The Road back to Sub 17:00 5k's
Published by
A few years ago if you knew me you would know that my life revolved around running. I knew who all of my competitors were, I knew all the best coaches, and I had read everybook i could find on the sport. If you were to see me walking around you would see that the front of my binder had my closest competition's PR's written down, you would see on my hand my goals for the upcoming race, and you would see a running book in my hand. Everything I did was focused on running, I ate healthy, I didn't drink soda and I got over 8 hours of sleep a night. That was back when i was a runner. Those days are long gone, now i am just someone who trains sparatically and is lucky to break 20 minutes in a 5K. I weigh 20 pounds more than my optimal racing weight and I drink soda or sweat tea on a daily basis. Running has gone from my number one priority to almost the bottom of my list. Every run is a struggle and every day is another dissapointment. This is all about to be in the past though. I am going to rededicate myself to running and I am going to work to be back in the 16's and maybe someday the 15's. Today is day one on the road back to becoming a runner. Its definitely not going to be easy but i know I have good friends to help me in my journey, Jaxrun.com and Personalrunningsolutions.com just to name a few. |
