Extremely HOT and humid conditions slowed this years pace down from the record setting race last year won by Carlos Miranda (15:30.0) over Tyler Bennett (15:34.2) and Sarah Candiano (18:44.9) one better than Katy G. Solis (18:46.2).
The 2013 8th Annual 3D Fast Cat 5K was won by former Florida Gulf Coast University runner Matt Crowe (16:06.5) who edged out Fort Myers Sr. Tyler Bennett (16:11.9), Golden Gate Jr. Alex Pedraza (16:42.7) and Fort Myers Dean McGregor (16:46.1) in the men's race.
Ft Myers Sr. Emily Edwards (19:25.0) was 10 seconds faster than Evangelical Christian Jr. Sarah Candiano (19:35.1) and Estero's Bethany Jenkins (19:40.1) who finished 1-2-3 with Estero's Katy K. Solis in 4th (19:41.2).
Attendance has swelled to over 400 runners for a race that benefits the Estero HS program under the direction of Coach Jeff Sommers.
Course was a mix of flat athletic fields, concrete sidewalks, asphalt and track surface.
