1A Boys Rankings

By: Mark Caulfield, The Geneva School, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: This is always the tough time of the season to compile team rankings. In the end everything seems to work itself out more clearly, but early we have lots of meets with varied "toughness factors" and questionable course lengths to discern. Throw in the fact that many teams are running close to home early in the season and you do not have the advantage of mano-a-mano matchups to consider. All that being said, this is getting fun and exciting. New teams entering the rankings this week and lots of movement in the top 10 make for a great setup in the next month as teams will battle it out on the trails. The one thing that remains steady though is Holy Trinity is the clear front runner and Maclay School is in pursuit with a number of others potentials. On a side note, can we give a "shout out" to Region 3 who boasts 10 of the top 20 teams in the state at this time. Best of luck in that Region fighting for the top 6 spots!

Team Name, Region Prev Comments:
1 Holy Trinity Academy (Region 3) 1 Still has not put together a complete team performance yet, but clearly the best team in Class 1A at this time. With their #2 making a big PR jump and an average team time of 17:36 at Katie Caples and 16:58 at Mountain Dew, the Tigers remain King of the Jungle.
2 Maclay School (Region 1) 2 The Marauders seem to relish the position of pursuer. In a recent article Coach Droze explained their appraoch as "we always have people to chase, and we just get closer and closer". After a win in the Tallahassee City Championship and a 17:42 team average they are inching up a bit closer.
3 Shorecrest Prep (Region 3) 3 A win at the Indian Rocks Invitational and an 18:13 team average at Mountain Dew (being forced to run in the JV race after their bus broke down) solidifies their 3rd position. Looks like their best is still yet to come.
4 P.K. Younge School (Region 2) 5 The team is looking strong 1-4 (16:04 to18:07) as they continue to improve and progress through the early season. If their #5 closes the gap, the Blue Wave could make a run at the podium with plenty of potential.
5 The Geneva School (Region 2) 7 Won the Varsity Division at the Katie Caples Invitational with 18:23 team average on a slow course without last seasons 3rd and 4th best returners competing. Still a bit of a mystery team at this point with only one race under their belt.
6 North Florida Christian (Region 1) 9 Biggest jump from teams in the top 10 as they move up 3 spots following their 2nd place finish at the Tallahassee City Championships with an 18:20 team average.
7 Pensacola Christian Academy (Region 1) 4 Opened up their season with an 18:45 team average at the Wildcat Invitational. Team displays solid depth that will move this group back up as the season progresses.
8 Indian Rocks Christian (Region 3) 6 With an 18:46 team average, a strong front runner at #1 and a tight 2-5 makes this a team to watch through the season.
9 Circle Christian School (Region 2) 15 A solid team showing at the Astronaut Invitational moves the young Centurians into the Top 10 as the top five all dropped seasonal bests for an 18:51 team average.
10 Father Lopez Catholic High School (Region 2) 11 A 19:50 and 20:35 team average at the slow Katie Caples and tough Mount Dora Bible meets are not indicative of the talent. Coach O'Malley has these guys ready to move.
11 Admiral Farragut Academy (Region 3) 10 Consistent improvement each meet and a ninth place finisher at the Fort Myers Optimist Invitational with a 19:04 team average has AFA looking good with room to improve.
12 Oak Hall School (Region 2) 12 19:22 team average at Katie Caples and a 19:10 team average at Mountain Dew shows steady improvement. Team has the potential to move into the top 10.
13 Seffner Christian Academy (Region 3) 14 A nice improvemente jump for the Crusaders at the Mountain Dew race resulted in a 19:11 team time for the top five showing they are for real and on the move.
14 Brevard Heat (Region 3) 13 Small in numbers but mighty in Spirit has this team continually improving with a 19:16 team showing and 7th place at the Rockledge Raider Classic.
15 Westminster Academy (Region 4) 18 Racing their way into shape with 3 meets in 6 days while averaging 19:22, 19:34, and 19:23 moves Region 4's top team up a few spots. Has the talent to move up big.
16 Seacrest Country Day (Region 3) 17 A fourth place finish and 19:13 team time at the Jags Invitational shows that this team is beginning to round into shape.
17 Cardinal Mooney (Region 3) NR A ninth place finish at the Bradenton Runners Club Invitational with a team average of 19:22 moves them into the ranking for the first time this season.
18 Miami Country Day (Region 4) 18 Tenth place finish and 19:41 Team Time at Dade County Youth Fair Championship shows a nice improvement from their first meet.
19 International Community School (Region 3) NR Slips into the top 20 for the fist time with a 19:40 team time at the Haggerty Invitational. Team should cotinue to improve through the year with a strong 1-2.
20 St. Petersburg Catholic (Region 3) 8 Team has more talent then their 19:45 team average represents. As they round into shape look for movement back up the ranks.

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: University of Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational brought some scorching fast times and new names to the rankings this week. Andrew Cacciatore from Holy Trinity maintains the number 1 ranking for the second week in a row with two impressive and consistent performances. The hard running Troy Clark maintains the second position again as well despite some outstanding performances and impressive wins. The pleasant surprise of the early season results seems to be Joseph Janson from P.K. Younge who has consistently been reeling off one impressive perforance after another highlighted by his 16:04 run at UF. Trevor Kattenber, the talented freshman from Holy Trinity also blew up the Mark Bostic Golf course with a huge PR. Last year only 3 athlets broke the 16:00 barrier for class 1A. Those numbers could improve in these next two weeks with some great upcoming meets!

Athlete Name, Grade – Team Prev Time, Comments:
1. Andrew Cacciatore, Junior - Holy Trinity 1 Cacciatore remains at the number 1 spot for the second week with his fourth place effort at Katie Caples and 5th place finish at Mountain Dew. With his 1A leading 15:57 PR at UF he becomes the first under 16:00.
2. Troy Clark, Senior - Mount Dora Bible 2 Winning the MDB Bulldog Invitational and taking second at the Lecanto Panther Invitational with a PR 16:10 solidifies Troy's runner up spot for the second week as well. Clark is hard working, tough, and ready!
3. Joseph Janson, Senior - P.K. Younge 4 A 16:20 at Lecanto and a 16:04 PR tenth place finish at Mountain Dew has this talented Senior primed for the big time. He is certainly off to a great start with some outstanding early season performances.
4. Griffith Rutherford, Senior - North Florida Christian 3 Ran 16:45 in winning the Tallahassee City Championships. Times seem to matter little to Rutherford who keeps winning on the challenging North Florida courses in preparation for a run at the State title.
5. Trevor Kattenberg, Freshman - Holy Trinity 7 His 16:54 ninth place finish at Katie Caples on a slow course followed by a 16:10 PR twelth place finish at UF moves this talented freshman to a well deserved 5th place ranking.

9. Jack Rutledge, Senior - Maclay School 14 Ran a 17:14 season best at the Tallahassee City Championships while finishing in third place on the tough Maclay coure.

12. Cal Davidson Turner, Junior - Cardinal Mooney High School. NR Ran 17:12 at the Fort Myers Optimist followed up by a 16:45 PR at the Bradenton Runners Club Invitational.

14. Noah Perkins, Sophomore - Seffner Christian Academy 24 Ran a nice 16:57 PR at UF Mountain Dew Race finishing 48th.
15. Luke Peterson, Sophomore - Shorecrest Prep 18 Leading the 1A number 3 team with a 17:34 at the Indian Rocks Invitational and 16:59.04 at Mountain Dew Invitational.
16. Ross Porter, Senior - Shorecrest Prep 8 Rounding into shape with a 17:44 at the Indian Rocks Invitational and 16:59.06 at Mountain Dew Invitational
17. Franco Martins, Junior - Windermere Prep 9 Ran 17:36 at the tough MDB Bulldog Invitational in finishing second to Troy Davis.

Looking to Make the Top 25 List Soon

Charles Otto, Senior - Boca Raton Christian NR Ran 16:42 at the uber fast Martin County Under the Lights Invitational. Need one more solid race to validate the early season result.

Austin Matese, Senior, Benjamin School NR Ran 17:10 at the Martin County Under the Lights Invitational.

Mitchell Pantelides, Junior - Calvary Christian (Clearwater) NR Ran 17:22 at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational

Joseph Ault, Senior - Circle Christian NR Ran 17:47 at the Astronaut Invitational. Slow start for this talented Senior who will be making the big jump soon!

Andrew Lemay, Senior - Seacrest Country Day School NR Opened up the season with an 18:21 followed by winning the Jags Invitational with a nice 16:49 PR on questionable course. Talented athlete but need to validate one more effort to move up.

2A Boys Rankings
By: Doug Nowlin, Pine Crest School, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: We had a few quality teams drop from the rankings this week. I anticipate their return in the upcoming weeks. It's still early and some teams are coping with injuries, illnesses, and just getting back into the swing of things. Then there are the teams, such as the top 4 ranked below, that obviously trained very hard over the summer and seem poised to compete for the State title as soon as possible. But we still have almost 2 months until the trip to Titusville is upon us, and that time may affect changes. Pay particular attention to the 1-5 splits. Notice that most of the top teams can place their scoring runners within a minute of each other. That's the key to scoring well in cross-country races. Work on that 1-5 split! I look forward to seeing many of you at FlRunners.

Team Name, Region Prev Comments:
1. Titusville, R4 (NR!) Team Avg. = 17:05; 1-5 Split = 1:49; Most Recent: U.F. Mountain Dew
2. Trinity Prep, R2 2 Team Avg. = 17:10; 1-5 Split = 34 Secs. (1-7 Split = 56 secs!); Most Recent: Katie Caples: 1st Place -- Congratulations, Trinity Prep!
3. Bishop Kenny, R1 1 Team Avg. = 17:11; 1-5 Split = 31 Secs; Most Recent: Mandarin Mustangs Classic; BK rebounded admirably from their 6th place finish at Katie Caples!
4. McKeel Academy, R3 10 Team Avg. = 17:13; 1-5 Split = 51 Secs; Most Recent: U.F. Mountain Dew where they defeated #1 Titusville by 38 points! So why isn't McKeel ranked higher? Usually head to head competition weighs much more heavily than team averages when I compile the rankings. These top 4 teams are very close and each one could make an argument to be ranked #1. But it is still a bit early in the season. Let's wait until the next rankings and maybe we'll see some changes.
5. Rockledge, R4 NR Team Avg. = 17:46; 1-5 Split = 51 Secs.; Most Recent: Rockledge Raider Classic: 1st Place -- Congratulations, Rockledge!
6. Bolles, R1 9 Team Avg. = 17:47; 1-5 Split = 2:17; Most Recent: Did not run full-strength at Katie Caples.
7. Lake Highland Prep, R2 8 Team Avg. = 17:48; 1-5 Split = 1:39; Most Recent: Hagerty Invitational
8. Tampa Jesuit, R3 4 Team Avg. = 17:55; 1-5 Split = 2:01; Most Recent: Newsome Wolves Invitational
9. Immokalee, R3 3 Team Avg. = 17:55; 1-5 Split = 2:21; Most Recent: Fort Myers Optimist
10. West Florida Tech, R1 13 Team Avg. = 18:02; 1-5 Split = 1:16; Most Recent: Gulf Coast Stampede
11. Pine Crest, R4 11 Team Avg. = 18:03; 1-5 Split = 1:20; Most Recent: Fort Lauderdale City Championship
12. Bishop John J. Snyder, R1 NR Team Avg. = 18:06; 1-5 Split = 1:26; Most Recent: Gulf Coast Stampede
13. Berkeley Prep, R3 6 Team Avg. = 18:06; 1-5 Split = 1:46; Most Recent: Mandarin Mustang Classic
14. Crystal River, R2 NR Team Avg. = 18:06; 1-5 Split = 2:10; Most Recent: Steven Villareal Memorial
15. LaBelle, R3 13 Team Avg. = 18:11; 1-5 Split = 1:37; Most Recent: Jags Invitational

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: It's so exciting when the season really gets going! We have 15 runners from 2a who have started off the season by running times under 17:00. So that's the cut-off this week. I anticipate that the cut-off time may drop each subsequent week. Yes, I look at the Season Best (SB) times -- but more important, ultimately, is the head to head competition. The course at U.F. Mountain Dew may have been a bit short, but there's no disputing the quality of competition last Saturday in Gainsville. And that's what cross-country is all about. So congratulations to the 15 young men listed below. If you fell out of the rankings, or just missed the cut-off, do not despair. Our next FACA rankings will include the super-competitive FlRunners race on the always-fast Chain of Lakes course. See you there!

5. Jonathan (Jack) Klumpp, Sr., North Broward Prep 5 SB = 16:36 (U.F. Mountain Dew)

3A Boys Rankings
By: Ryan Lowe, Lake Nona HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: Team averages are getting lower as the season progresses and some teams are already showing sub 60 splits between 1 and 5. The Florida Race helped break some ties in regards to head-to-head competition and the ROC at Flrunners will be fun to watch. I think the depth of 3A is insane as almost half the field at ROC is from 3A. The next rankings will start to include the top 6 from each region as we are nearing the post-season in what seems to be the shortest cross country season ever.

Team Name, Region Prev Comments:
1. Belen Jesuit, R4 1 Defending champs have not lost a race yet this year; team average is not #1 but their 1-5 split is 47 seconds and they have to lose a race in order to fall from the top spot.
2. Chiles, R1 3 On paper they should be #1 in regards to 16:35 team average and 43 second 1-5 split but they'll have to beat Belen head-to-head before moving up
3. Fort Walton Beach, R1 2 Just like the top 2 teams, they have not lost a race yet. Their 1-5 split is going to determine places in November.
4. Ft. Myers, R3 NR #1 runner put on a show at Florida but 4-5 runners may prevent them from moving up higher
5. Estero, R3 NR They have been running well and moving up the rankings with their 51 second 1-5 split; 3rd place finish at Florida was impressive.
6. Land O Lakes, R2 6 They have stayed consistent as their team average has dropped.
7. Niceville, R1 5 #1 and 2 runners continue to impress which will always keep them in the mix.
8. Sarasota, R3 NR 16:54 team average looks good but #4 and 5 runners need to improve
9. St. Augustine, R1 7 They have dropped their team average by almost 30 seconds in first few races.
10. Pembroke Pines Charter, R4 NR A nice run at the Youth Fair race has moved them into the top 10
11. Bartram Trail, R1 8 They have a true pack with only 35 second split between 1-6 runners; if their times can drop while the pack stays together then watch out
12. Leon, R1 12 #1 runner is doing his part but can the others follow?
13. Ocala Vanguard, R2 9 17:28 team average will be enough in a weak region
14. Creekside, R1 4 17:20 team average would work in any other region but theirs as they currently sit at 7th
15. Pace, R1 10 They will be battling with Leon and Creekside for the 6th, and final, spot at State.

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: I have increased the rankings to include the top 20 times from the first 3 weeks of the season. The Florida Race had over 400 runners which made it tough to navigate your way around unless you got out to the front. You may find it surprising that the #1 ranked team, Belen, does not have anyone in the top 20 but I am going strictly off of times and races from the first 3 meets. I have no doubt that after the Flrunners Race we will see another shake-up in the rankings. The ROC on 9/28 will be another race for the ages assuming the conditions hold-up. Good luck to everyone as they continue to compete as we hit the half-way point of the season.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team Prev Time, Comments:
1. Tyler Bennett, 12 - Fort Myers 2 15:24; he ran away from a tough field at Florida; it will be interesting to see how he responds to having someone running next to him
2. Nicholas Morken, 12 - Niceville 3 15:39; has been putting up some great times in the first part of the season.
3. Thomas Howell, 12 - Niceville 1 15:47; continues to give Niceville and "Nice" 1-2 punch
4. Zackery Summerall, 11 - Sarasota NR 15:52; led a couple of runners in this poll at the Bradenton Runners Race
5. Sukhi Khosla, 11 - Leon 9 15:53; had a nice run at the Carrollton Orthopaedic Race to crack to the top 5
6. Mark Robertson, 12 - Pensacola Booker T 14 15:55; ran under 16 at the Gulf Coast Stampede while chasing Niceville
7. Tyler Stahl, 12 - Land O Lakes 7 15:55; great time for a crowded field at Florida Race, he should be able to cruise until State
8. Adam Bradtmueller, 10 - Sarasota NR 16:00; top sophomore in 3A right now and has a teammate just in front to chase
9. Dean McGregor, 11 - Ft. Myers NR 16:00; helped his team to a 2nd place finish at Florida
10. Travis Nichols, 12 - Land O Lakes 4 16:01; another great run at Florida, Travis and his teammate Tyler are going to make region 2 tough for individuals
11. Steven Cross, 10 - Merritt Island NR 16:03; another sophomore making an impressive entry onto our list
12. Charles Shackelford,12 - Fort Walton Beach NR 16:15; consistency is his key as first two races have been separated by only 2 seconds
13. Tyler Fisher, 11 - Port Charlotte NR 16:15; another runner that was in the front pack at the Bradenton Runners Race
14. Cade Zimmerman, 12 - Chiles 6 16:16; top runner on arguably the top team.
15. Carlos Penaranda, 11 - Pembroke Pines NR 16:16; leads his team into the top 10.
16. David Cash Tampa, 11 - Creekside 5 16:18; ran a great time early but has not topped it since
17. Demery Benedict, 11 - Fort Walton Beach NR 16:18; dropped his time by 14 seconds between races
18. Alex Pedraza, 12 - Golden Gate NR 16:19; ran well at Ft. Myers Race
19. Avery Bartlett, 11 - Chiles 15 16:20; he is keeping the pack at Chiles on pace
20. Noah Kemp, 12 - St. Augustine NR 16:22; another good runner in the Florida Race.

1A Girls Coming Soon

2A Girls Rankings
By: Mike Becker, Ransom Everglades, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: Bolles remains on a roll, but Pine Crest is nipping at their heels. Only a few points separated the two teams on Bolles' Jacksonville turf. That Pine Crest even made the journey to Jax two days after running a competitive 5K in Fort Lauderdale, indicates that they expect to make a challenge. Bolles has outstanding depth though, and has a greater margin for error. After these two powerhouses, we have strong programs with questions marks still. Without a visibly elite runner, BK is nonetheless moving up the charts. With more movement, they will be a force to be reckoned with. Ransom has a very strong 1-2 when both run as well and a solid, young 3 and 4. Ransom will need a big improvement from 5 to close the gap to get near the podium, but have possibilties as team is young. Carrollton, always a solid contender, ran well at UF ( right after a 95 degree bath in South Florida). Never underestimate the heart of a championship team such as Carrollton. Titusville is improving quickly and I assume will be comfortable next week at FL Runners where they will match up with some of the teams ahead of them. On home turf, expect a great performance. West Florida Tech's times place them better than 7th. I look forward to seeing them match up with some teams at pre State? Its difficult to see where the match up exactly. Cardinal Gibbosn well coached squard will continue to improve. Everybody expects Lemon Bay to make a stand soon.

Team Name Prev Comments:
1. Bolles 1 Seven runners under 21:00 is trouble for the pack of teams chasing
2. Pine Crest (2A) Top three can run with and maybe beat Bolles top 3! But is two months enough time to develop a 4 and 5 near Bolles pack of harriers?
3. Bishop Kenney 6 Without a sub 21:00 runner, they have an extremely tight pack 1-5 within 68 seconds! If the pack moves together they have enough depth to get on the podium.
4. Ransom Evereglades (2C) Ran without 2, 3 and 6 at Larry and Penny Thompson; still right behind Carrollton there… looking forward to running in under 95 degree weather.
5. Carrollton 5 Neck and neck as usual with Ransom trading places week to week
6. Titusville 8 Jumping up with excellent race last week. These guys probably think they should be closer to top. It wouldn't surprise me
7. West Florida Tech 13 Their times indicate they may be "better" than 7th. But its so hard to compare South Florida with Panhandle. We need a match up to compare
8. Cardinal Gibbons NR Welcome back to AA. You "know" they will be in top 10 somewhere
9. Lemon Bay (2B) If they are holding back, as I suspect, these guys are in top 5 somewhere. Top two elite runners haven't yet strutted their feathers.
10. Lake Highland Prep 11
11. Academy of Holy Names 16
12. Rockledge 9
13. Eastside 7
14. Bishop John Snyder NR
15. Immokalee 12

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: Well, the picture is starting to become a little clearer. Montgomery cruises in Fort Lauderdale, defeating St Thomas Aquinas star, then 48 hours later travels to Jax to meet Wilson. Wilson defeats Montgomery and maintains the top overall AA time of 18:56. Those two have a great rivalry brewing. Its hard to compare times run up north at 75 degrees with times down south at 95 degrees ( No I am not exaggerating), so I am sure northern schools will debate some of the rankings. Archer runs a strong race and edges Rogers in the sauna. Castillo runs a great 19:16 at UF. Some pre season notables have been dropped either due to transferring schools or simply not posting a time yet. If and when they reappear ( and I expect that they will) , they will go right back in the matrix . For now, the cutoff remains at an arbitrary 21:00 this year . There are still a half dozen or so dangerous runners who have not posted sub 21:00 times yet. I call them lurkers. See below list !! And of course I missed someone, so keep the tips coming

Athlete Name – Team Prev Time, Comments:
1A Mackenzie Wilson- Bolles 2 Only 4 seconds separates Wilson from Montgomery at Caples
1B Julia Montgomery- Pine Crest 1 Montgomery's best race was defeating Alexa Cruz of St Thomas, and is a cofavorite with Wilson. Ran Caples 5K on two days rest
3. Ally Hadja- Bolles 9 Bolles excellent number 2 beats all other number ones so far except Pine Crest
4. Lauren Archer- Ransom Everglades 6 19:37 at Larry and Penny is very fast. You would have to have competed on that day to know how hot it was.
5. Daesha Rogers- Jackson 3 19:53 in training shoes at Larry and Penny
6. Claire Castillo - Titusville 13 Runs 19:15 at UF, will meet southern runners soon

3A Girls Rankings
By: John Stevenson, Sarasota HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: We are 3 weeks into the season and things are settling down a little. I based my rankings on a few things: 1) Head-to-head battles 2) Difficulty of the course and 3) spread. That being said, I still have Estero at a clear #1 with Fort Walton Beach, Pace, and Nease completing the top 4.

Team Name, Region Prev Comments:
1. Estero, 3 1 Still the top team in the state…clear favorite with the additon of Araceli Leon. 1st at Optmist (20:40 avg) (spread 2:29) and dominating Mountain Dew with an average time of 19:05 and spread of 1:38.
2. Nease, 1 4 Great start for Nease! Clear victory at Bob Hans Invite. Dominated the Mandarin Mustand Classic with 1 minute average faster then Creekside. 20:18 average and 2:57 spread.
3. Fort Walton Beach, 1 2 1st at Mobile Challenge (20:55 avg) (2:01 spread). Was idle last week.
4. Pace, 1 7 Took 2nd place at Pace Invite, right behind Fort Walton Beach. Solid team with a good spread. 1st at Washington Wildcat Invite (20:33 avg) (1:49 spread). Took 2nd place at Gulf Coast Stampede.
5. Sarasota, 3 15 Clear victory at Bradenton Runners Club Invite with 20:49 average. Took 2nd at Optimist Invite with 21:30 average (60 sec spread). Nod goes to Sarasota over Ft. Myers just slightly because of the head-to-head match up.
6. Fort Myers, 3 8 Had a great showing at Mnt Dew with 20:37 average and a 7th place finish. Finished 4th at Optimist (21:46 avg) (3:19 spread).
7. Seabreeze, 2 6 Finished 8th at Mountain Dew just behind Ft. Myers. The big issue is their 5th…65 points separated their 4th and 5th runner.
8. Merritt Island, 4 13 Finished 9th overall at Mnt Dew just behind Ft. Myers and Seabreeze with 21:03 average and a great spread of 1:16. Their spread will serve them well in big meets. These 5-9 teams are so very close…
9. Creekside, 1 3 Finished 2nd at the Mandarin Mustang Classic behind Pace with an average of 21:15 and spread of 1:35. Very solid team that if they can make some improvements in 3-5 then they should be in top 5.
10. Ocala Vanguard. 2 9 Solid start! 1st at Lecanto with 20:52 avg and 3:33 spread. Idle last week
11. Lakewood Ranch, 3 11 2nd place at Brandenton Runners Club with 21:48 average (missing Wrary for the race). 5th at Optmist (22:14 avg) (1:58 spread).
12. Niceville, 1 10 4th place at Gulf Coast Stampede with an average of 21:32 and spread of 1:06. 3rd place the Pace Invite with 21:30 avg (43 second spread). Top 7 runners run very close together.
13. Ponte Vedra, 1 NR Placed just ahead of St. Augustine at Mountain Dew with 21:45 average. 11th place at the Elite race at Katie Caples with 21:56 average and 2:43 spread.
14. St. Augustine, 1 NR 20th place at Mountain Dew with 21:54 average. 1st place in the Varisty race at Katie Caples Avg. 22:16 (1:57 spread).
15. North Ft. Myers, 3 NR Consistent top 4, but needs 5th to improve to stay in the top 15.
16. Crestview, 1 NR 4th place at Washington Wildcat Invite (21:56 avg) (2:13 spread)
17. Suncoast, 4 NR 22:03 avg at Martin County Under the Lights (2:46 spread)
18. Robinson, 3 14 21:47 avg at Newsome…4th place (2:42 spread)

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: Rankings are becoming clearer now with 3 weeks of racing. There is some good josling going on at the top of the rankings with great battles between Edwards and Leon. Xiang gets my top spot due to her consistency and 3 victories so far this year. A lot of jumping around though in the middle because of huge efforts at Mountain Dew.

Athlete Name, Grade – Team Prev Time, Comments:
1. Karen Xiang, 12, Nease 1 18:30. Another race, another victory for Karen at the Mandarian Invite. 3 races, 3 first place finishes. Has been the most consistent top runner in 3A.
2. Emily Edwards, 12, Ft. Myers 2 18:38. Emily has been consistently getting faster since her first race with a strong performance at Mt. Dew…finishing 4th in a stacked field.
3. Araceli Leon, 12, Estero 3 18:45. Araceli has been going back and forth with Emily Edwards in the past three weeks. Took the overall at Optimist.
4. Bethany Jenkins, 12, Estero 12 18:27. I think Bethany found her 2011 running form. Huge race at Mr. Dew. Finishing 2nd place overall and almost taking 2 minutes off her time from Optimist.
5. Devin Molloy, 9, Barron Collier 6 19:36. Great start for the freshman by running to 3rd place at the tough Optimist course.
6. Daley Cline, 10, Estero 21 19:08. Like many of her Estero teammates, dropped the hammer at Mt. Dew.
7. Emma Rudman, 10, Fort Walton 5 19:26 at Pace Invite taking 3rd place, another 3rd place with a time of 19:33 at Mobile Challenge. Was idle last week.
8. Breeana Salcedo, 10, Cypress Lake 24 19:09. Placed 1st at Jags Invitational by taking over a minute off her time from the tough Optimist course where she ran 20:22 at Optimist, finishing 8th.
9. Katie Slater, 12, Estero 22 19:01. Huge race at Mt. Dew. Was off to a slow start with running in 21's at Estero Invite and Optimist.
10. Adair Lyden, 10, Lake Nona 11 19:18. Season best for Adair at Mt. Dew. Placed 18th overall. I bet she's eyeing a top 10 finish at states. She took 1st place at Edgewater with a time of 20:05.
11. Rachel Kling, 11, Pace 10 19:37. Took 1st place at Wildcat Invite and then 4th place finish at Gulf Coast Stampede with 19:52.
12. Audrey Carpenter, 11, Ocala Vanguard 8 19:14 at Lecanto for 2nd place. Was idle last week.
13. Kianna Bonnet, 10, Seebreeze 13 19:34 at Mt Dew Invite. Improving well to lead the Seabreeze girls. 20:04 at DeLand Invite for 2nd place.
14. Amber Philpott, 10, Springstead NR 19:16 PR at Lecanto but needs to be more consistent. Dropped off at Nature Coast Shark Invite with 20:24.
15. Megan Giovanniello, 9, Ida S. Baker NR 20:20 at Mt. Dew Invite. Ran well at Optimist with 20:35 finishing 9th place.
16. Elizabeth Mulford, 11, Ocala Vanguard 16 19:27. Placed 4th overall at Lecanto Invite. Was Idle last week.
17. Hannah Giangaspro, 12, Bartram Trail 7 19:36 at Mandarin Classic placing 3rd
18. Emily Kerns, 11, Mitchell NR 19:48. Took 6th place at Lecanto Invite, but dropped off a bit at the tougher Anclote Sharks Invite with 21:08.
19. Bethany Hardcastle, 11, South Fork 9 19:50 at Mt Dew for 31st place.
20. Cheyenne Andrew, 12, Pace NR 20:01 at Gulf Coast Stampede placing 5th overall.

25. Colleen Openshaw, 11, Creekside 23 20:17. Has been more consistent then a few runners so Collen sneeked in at 25. Ran to a 6th place finish at Mandarin Classic

4A Girls Rankings
By: Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: As always with the team rankings, only six teams per region can make it out to the big show and so this is basically a mock state meet. For two of the regions the 6th qualifying spot is pretty tight, so I have those teams sharing a place on the rankings. The biggest jump that made major waves was by Winter Park as they skipped their way up to #1 with back-to-back 19:40 team averages and solidly racing the competition! Individual Rankings:
Commentary: We finally have a complete set of results to be able to rank our athletes! It's about time! Most of the girls competed at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational, although there were a few other meets around the state that showed some good head-to-head match-ups. Overall most of the courses / weather conditions were very comparable, except for Mount Dora of course, tradtionally one of the hardest courses in the state, so I knocked off a minute from that meet for the Olympia girls (shout out to John Dey!).

Commentary: The UF Mt. Dew Invite explained all the gaps….. Flrunners should give us a great idea of the remaining bubble teams… Im subtracting 20 sec off LP…. Why? I ran the course and it always proves to be about 20 sec slow this time of the year.

7. Katherine Jovanovic- Pine Crest 23 19:49 in Broward Championshps
