The transition from being a high school student-athlete to a college student-athlete
is quite different for everyone.
While some decide to compete at programs close
to home, some decide that out of State schools are more their fancy.

Some athletes decide that big Division 1 programs is where they want to compete
while still others decide on DII, DIII, Juco,
or even Ivy League programs.
Everyone that takes the next step and competes at the collegiate level has a
different, unique story,
but some of the experiences and lessons along the way
are universal. Running at the collegiate level is a commitment
with sometimes
very different experiences from what runners experienced in high school. Our goal
is to share those experiences
and offer a glimpse into the life of the collegiate athlete
irregardless of the size, quality or affiliation of the school.

What's the biggest difference in college training versus HS?

Biggest difference, distances. College training for me is less about the high intensity workouts and is more about longer distance quality workouts. We do a lot of 1k intervals, extended tempo runs and distance speed work.

How's the adjustment going from living at home to being out of state attending college at SCAD?

For me the adjustment to the college realm has been fairly easy. There is a lot more work to do just to keep up with everything and the responsibilities have gone from few to several! For me, the biggest adjustment was using my best judgment to make for better time management. Being away from home hasn't been too difficult. I miss my parents and awesome dog, but the busy world of college has kept me on my toes and I feel more and more at home everyday!

How is the team at SCAD? You seem to be consistently one of their top runners.

The team is fantastic here at SCAD. We are a developing team that I believe will only progress over the years to come. This is the strongest that SCAD has ever been as a team and I see no reason why we won't be saying that every year as our program develops.

Any hints or words of advice for seniors looking to run in college?

Follow your dreams in the present so you can turn them into greatness in the future.
