Carlos Miranda, Palmetto Ridge

In only his second race, he won competing against various middle schools in Collier County. He still holds the county record for 8th graders in the 3000 meter run. The rest is history. He's been region champion the last three years and placed 3rd and 23rd the last two years at state competition. He's signing this February to run for the University of Florida and is undecided about his major. His fastest mile is 4:13 and 5K (3.1 miles) 15:07.

Miranda blew away the Race of Champions field at the prestigious FLrunners.com meet in late September, then stumbled dramatically in the district meet, finishing third. He rebounded with an easy regional win and seemed primed for a title run at the state meet, where he finished third as a junior.
