Rachel Petrik spent all of last season chasing one of her teammates. She spent 19 minutes and 23.99 seconds this morning chasing only her twin brother.

Petrik, a senior on the Fort Myers High School cross country team, won the District 3A-12 meet at Veteran’s Park in Lehigh Acres, leading the Green Wave to the top of the team standings as well.

Marshall Petrik, older than Rachel by eight minutes, served the race as its pacer. He rode his black Windsor Cliff 29.1 mountain bike, looking backward occasionally at his sister and the field of runners behind her.
