At DistancePreps.com our motto is "The Future Runs Now" and to help celebrate the 2013 XC season, we have decided to start highlighting our future stars in a segment called "Frosh of the Week".

Nadiria Evans - Ridgeview Bob Hans Invitational (19:54)

Evans

Our girls Frosh of the week is none other than Nadiria Evans. Nadiria came on the scene strong by running the fastest time for a 9th grader in all classes and was a huge part of Oak Hall's week one success. The returning 1A team champions found a runner that will help keep them at the top of their game for years to come.

"Nadiria will be a great addition to our team this year. With Nadiria on our team it gives us more depth than last years team. In the few weeks that I have been able to coach her, I see a competitive runner that is willing to try a  new training schedule to better herself not only for cross country, but for track."

- Coach McTureous - Oak Hall School

Mason Jones - Wickham Park Jamboree (16:49)

Jones

Choosing Mason was a little more difficult as he was not the fastest freshmen this week. However we admire the fact that as a frosh he helped lead his team to a 2nd place finish at the Wickham Park Jamboree and at one time even lead the race against some great competitors. If Mason keeps this up, there is no doubt that Titusville will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.

"I was very pleased with not only Mason's performance, but the performance of the entire team. They have been training hard all summer long, and were obviously ready to race.  Mason's race plan was to go out hard and tuck in behind Xavier Walton and stay with him as long as he could. I guess he was feeling pretty good, because at about the 1 1/2 mile mark Mason decided to take the lead. Unfortunately, he was not able to hold on to the lead, but it did show a great competitiveness that you need to have to be successful. Other than Xavier and Mason, our top five were Senior Sam Flemming with a PR of 17:33, Frosh Jonathan Pugh in his first race with a fantastic finish of 17:40, and Senior Alex Salazar at 18:15. We are expecting great things from all 17 members our team this year."

- Coach Jones - Titusville

There are many factors that come into play when determining the "Frosh of the Week", including; time, place, rank against other freshmen, and overall impact they have on their team. We will not highlight the same Frosh more than once and the honors are purely objective. If you wish to nominate your athlete for "Frosh of the Week" e-mail us at [email protected] with their name and why they are deserving of the honor.
