At DistancePreps.com our motto is "The Future Runs Now" and to help celebrate the 2013 XC season we are 6 weeks into highlighting our future stars and dedicated young runners as "Frosh of the Week".

Kayley Delay, Fletcher High (Bail N' Trail 3rd 18:59)

Kayley Delay is our Girls "Frosh of the Week".

Kayley is making a statement on the Florida High School scene.  Kayley is consistently one of the top runners at large Invitationals and just this past weekend led her Senators with a 3rd place finish at the Bale N' Trail Cross Country Original breaking the 19 minute barrier for the first time, clocking 18:59 point.   If we take a look back over the season, it's easy to see the weekly progressions for Kayley.  She opened her high school career at the UNF 110% meet going sub 20 right off the bat.  Not a bad way to get things rolling.  Her 19:52 at the UNF 110% meet was good for 6th place overall.  More recently at the Ponte Vedra Invitational, Kayley was down to 19:14 showing steady progression that eventually led to her sub 19 performance this past weekend.  We really look forward to seeing future progression from Kayley for the Senators.

Egan Kattenberg, Holy Trinity (Great American, 16:54)

Egan Kattenberg is our Boys "Frosh of the Week".

Egan comes from a running family !  Older brother Tristan and twin Trevor means there is no lack of family cohesion when it comes to training and racing.  Egan's performance this past weekend at Great American where he finished 33rd overall in his race really showed his fortitude under less than ideal running and racing conditions on the hills of Wake-Med at the Great American Cross Country Festival.

Coach Butler,  Holy Trinity

"Egan is a very talented young man. Not only is he a great runner but as an 8th grader he was number two on the school tennis team and this year as a freshman will be the number one on the Holy Trinity tennis team. He is at the top of his class academically as well. He is hard working, never misses a practice or fails to finish a workout. His race at Great American was nothing less than spectacular under very hot and humid conditions.  Our boys team will be counting on him a great deal as we start the state series run. I believe Egan has the potential to run in the 16:15 range before the end of the season."

There are many factors that come into play when determining the "Frosh of the Week", including; time, place, rank against other freshmen, and overall impact they have on their team. We will not highlight the same Frosh more than once and the honors are purely subjective. If you wish to nominate your athlete for "Frosh of the Week" e-mail us at [email protected] with their name and why they are deserving of the honor.
