Rood wins top boys honor for 2nd year in row

When asked what makes David Rood stand out compared to other top Vanguard High School cross country runners, Knights coach James Travieso was quick to point out the effort and intensity given by his senior standout.

Rood is the Star-Banner boys cross country runner of the year.

The senior was Marion County's top finisher at the state meet with a time of 16:23. For the All-County team, see below “He is one of the toughest runners we have in our program,” Travieso said. “He is prepared to give his all every time he tows the line. He never has excuses; he just goes out and takes care of business.
